According to the All Japan Federation, 44 nations belong to the internation Kendo federation and around 420,000 people around the world are Kendo practitioners outside of Japan. In the whole world, there are around 6 million Kendo practitioners, most of them(around a third) being from Japan.. Kendo is also popular in countries like Korea, Taiwan, United States, Canada, and Brazil. There are also big tournaments like the World Kendo Championship which consists of participants internationally and the All Japan Kendo Championship which is seen as the most prestigious, even more so than the World Kendo Championship. People practice kendo to cultivate their minds and to discover/define their way of life. You can also practice kendo no matter how old you are with some sensei being in their seventies and eighties, and some people starting kendo in their sixties.
